Formation

The club was founded in 1974 with the stated objective to uplift the socio-economic and moral condition of the young people of San Juan and its environs. Broadly the Club defines its area of operations as stretching from Morvant Junction and going east to Mt. Lambert and from the Croissee going north to Santa Cruz. The Club won its first trophy in 1977: National Soccer League – winner of 3rd division, its second major trophy also in 1977 – TTFA Champion of Champions and its third trophy in 1995 – Champion of the Eastern Football Association.

Upon the creation of a Semi-Professional League in 1994, by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation, now Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA), San Juan Jabloteh Sports Club converted itself from an amateur organization into a professional football club. With the backing of CL Financial Limited (CLF) in 1996, the club strengthened its operations as it sought to establish itself as a major force in football not only in Trinidad and Tobago but in the Region. In three consecutive years: from 1997 to 1999 the team placed fourth in the Semi-Professional League.

Identity

From its inception the Club utilized the colours of black, red and green which are reflective of the country’s spirit: Black represents the dedication of the team joined together by one strong bond. It is the colour of strength, of unity, of purpose and of the wealth of the land. Red represents the vitality of the land and of the team; it is the warmth and energy of the sun, the courage and friendliness of the team. Green represents the productivity of the team.

Through its name: San Juan Jabloteh, the Club has identified itself with one of the national birds of the country: the Oil or Devil Bird, which lives in the Aripo Caves. Originally, the French settlers called the Bird: Les Diables Oiseaux which was translated by the local settlers into Diablotin and finally Jabloteh.

In 1999, San Juan Jabloteh Sports Club became a member of the newly-created: Professional Football League (PFL) managed by the TTFA and subsequently in 2002, became a founding member of the new professional league TT Pro League.
